I don’t have a YouTube channel but I enjoy watching Booktubers’ videos. From book hauls and TBRs, to book tags and reading vlogs, I love sitting down with a cup of tea and watching all your videos. So keep them coming!
On my daily scroll through the latest videos from my subscription list, I came across the Slytherin Book Tag which was posted by Joannotations. I LOVED it and immediately grabbed my notepad to write down the questions. Little did I know, she had actually tagged me! So even more of a reason to get involved.
I’m a Slytherin and the more I read about Slytherin personality traits, the more certain I am that the Sorting Hat chose correctly. I have always been afraid to admit that I’m a Slytherin because of the bad connotations and characters attached to the house. Being as Scorpio as they come, being a Slytherin as well just doesn’t seem to do me any favours. I promise I’m nice!! However, more recently, I’ve been able to truly embrace my Slytherin personality and not be afraid of people getting the wrong idea.

Q1: A Book That Has A Snake or Reptile On The Cover
I’m choosing Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo for this one. This book gives me all the Slytherin feels but I am yet to own a copy or read it.
It seems to be everywhere I look at the minute so its just calling me to read it. Definitely one I want to tick off my TBR soon.
Q2: A Book Set In / Around Water
As Slytherins (and Scorpios) are water babies, there’s no surprise that I love being in, around or near to water. I would love to live in a beach town as the sound of water just instantly calms me down. I often listen to water sounds before bed to soothe me into a deep sleep.
So for this question I picked Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield. I recently read this book and fell in love with the prose and the way the author made me feel special. Like I was the only person she was telling this story to. A truly amazing 5-star read in my eyes.
Q3: A Book Where The Main Character Has Strong Leadership Skills
I struggled to think back to all the books I’ve read in my lifetime and remember a character who fits the bill. I’ve read that many I must admit that sometimes they all blur into one.
Yet a character that stuck in my mind was Katherine Johnson from Hidden Figures. Her determination and sheer intelligence was vital to the success of US spaceflights. She worked tirelessly to make sure her voice was heard despite being of African-American heritage. A true heroine of mine.
Q4: Ambition – A Book That Lived Up To The Hype
I L-O-V-E-D Daisy Jones & The Six with all my heart. That book will probably always be one that is close to my heart, not only because of the story itself but because of the way its written. I truly think that Taylor Jenkins Reid is becoming one of my favourite authors because her writing is so beautiful.
I had to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo as I needed something to fill that Daisy Jones hole and this book certainly lived up to my expectations. Oh…as well as ripping my heart out too!
Q5: Resourcefulness – A Character Which Is Creative / Unique In Accomplishing Tasks
OK, Jo March from Little Women doesn’t exactly accomplish any tasks but what I love about is her determination. Once her mind is set on something, its very hard to change her mind. She struggles with her true identity throughout the book but one thing I admire about her is that she slowly begins to accept who she is and its a lovely thing to read.
Q6: A Book With House Colours:
OK so technically our house colours are green and silver and even though this book doesn’t have any silver on it, I still think it is a beautiful cover and edition of Robinson Crusoe.
Can’t say that Robinson Crusoe is one of my favourite classics but still one I enjoyed studying at University and one that sits proud and pretty on my book shelf.
Q7: Name A Book Where You Feel For The Bad Guy
Ahhh Draco Malfoy. The ultimate bad guy am I right? Had to throw a fellow Slytherin in there didn’t I?
I secretly feel for Draco. Even though he is so annoying and is such a kiss-arse, I do feel for him when he is roped into doing very dark and mysterious stuff that is perhaps too much for him. He is given a responsibility that is perhaps too big for him and I feel sorry for him having to cope on his own with what seemed like little support.
