Out of My Comfort Zone Book Tag

So I first saw this book tag through Shaz Reads and from there, I was dying to give it a go! It was originally created by Emma @ Emmmabooks and for me, it has been a great way for me to work out if I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone or not!

One rule you have to abide to is to pick a genre that is outside of your comfort zone and then you cannot pick a book from this genre to answer any of the below questions!! My genre is: SCIENCE-FICTION!

A Book That Is An Exception When It Comes To Genre or Elements You Don’t Typically Like

I’m determined to try every book picked for Beth’s Book Club and therefore I would never have normally picked The Flatshare had I come across it in a book store. It’s romantic and comedic elements are something I usually don’t go for, but I really enjoyed this book when I read it!

A Book You Enjoyed From A Genre You Previously Held Some Stigma Against

I joined a private book club with some Book Twitter friends a few months back and they decided to read Dark & Deepest Red which is YA Fiction. Having never stepped anywhere near this genre before, I really enjoyed it and now my unintentional stigma that I suppose was attached with that genre has well and truly been busted.

A Book You Didn’t Know Was Out of Your Comfort Zone Until You Started Reading It

A friend bought me two books as a little treat at the end of last year and I had no idea that Circe was about Greek Mythology! I really enjoyed it but it took me a while to get used to the characters, names and play on well-known myths!

A Friend Who Motivates You To Pick Up Books You Might Not Normally Be Interested In

Not necessarily a friend as such but the lovely team behind the Our Women Writes monthly book subscription post me books that I would never have known about. It is one subscription that I get most excited about because their book choices are always so topical and thought-provoking!

A Book That Is Out of Your Comfort Zone But You Would Like To Read

Having NEVER stepped foot into the world of Sarah J. Maas, I would love to read Crescent City. When I first joined Bookstagram at the start of the year, this book was EVERYWHERE and so I bought a copy, intending to read it but have since not plucked up the courage!

A Book/Genre So Outside Your Comfort Zone That You’ll Probably Never Give It A Chance

Unfortunately, erotica is a genre I will probably never read as I find it cheesy and cringey but some people absolutely LOVE this genre so you do you, boo!

And there we have it! Have you read any of the above? I have tagged a few of you to do this book tag but if you think it is something that’s up your street, go for it and let me know!
