The girl stuck in the book…
Well hello there! My name is Jessica and here is my huge welcome to my little corner of the internet. Hopefully my blog will inspire you to read with me and get stuck in a book!
I am 24 years old and I am Manchester born and bred. I have actually never moved away from my hometown, completing my degree in English Literature and History at the wonderful Manchester Metropolitan University.
I always have found so much enjoyment from reading as it offers me a moment of relaxation and the opportunity to visit so many wonderful places (both fictional and non-fictional) from the comfort of my favourite reading spots.
Like with my food, when it comes to books I’m not picky and I enjoy most genres. I’m basically an all-rounder. However, I would definitely say that my favourite genres have to be horror, thrillers, crime, Gothic and historical fiction. Combine the lot and you’ve got a girl in love.
I started a blog when I was younger but life got in the way and my passion was soon outshone by other compelling matters. Yet, here I am, back onboard with the whole blogging thing and it’s safe to say, I’m more driven than ever to keep reading and reviewing everything I read. I have also joined the Bookstagram community recently which I’ve fallen in love with and I’m so touched at how helpful and friendly bookstagrammers are. I guess I could call myself a bookstagrammer too but I won’t get ahead of myself…
My Favourite Authors: Khaled Hosseini, Sue Monk Kidd, Jodi Picoult, Jojo Moyes, Dorothy Koomson, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Matt Haig…(the list is longer I promise but I’m usually more of a fan of stand-alones than series)
My Favourite Books: Queenie, Secret Life of Bees, How To Stop Time, Dracula, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Daisy Jones & The Six, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Lolita, Little Women, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Power, Handsmaid’s Tale…
As you can see from the pictures here, I still live at home with my parents and our three dogs:
- Martha, the Rottweiler
- Mabel, the Dachshund/Jack Russell
- Henry, the Bernese Mountain Dog
I’m very lucky to have three gorgeous reading partners that never shy away from a cuddle, doubling up as a kind of hot water bottle in the winter months.
